The VINX Vocal Summit

“The Shire Vocal Summit 2015”
May 23 - 24, 2015

The Dreamsicle Arts & Entertainment Group in conjunction with audio equipment giants Mackie, Telefunken Elektrokustik, Behringer, Bugera, TurboSound, Natal and EarthWorks Microphones is proud to present "The Shire Vocal Summit 2015"!  On Memorial Day weekend, Saturday and Sunday May 23-24, the singing community comes to New Hampshire for a weekend of performances, workshops, clinics, panel discussions and artistic inspiration.  

Please join Dreamsicle Arts partner Jennifer Smith Lambert and artist/ producer/ songwriter and Berklee College of Music educator Vinx De'Jon Parrette for 3 days and nights of amazing music and vocal education.  

In addition to VINX and Jenn, mentors and speakers for this year's event include: 
JayT Jenkins (choreographer/vocalist/producer - credits include D'Angleo, Prince, Jennifer Lopez, Salt N'Pepa)
Dolette McDonald (Background Vocalist for The Talking Heads, The Police and others)
Alain Mallet (credits include Producer/Pianist for Jonatha Brooke and Grace Kelly, Touring Pianist for Paul Simon, Madeline Peyroux)

A Special Note from Vinx "Enjoy the weekend with us vocal expressionists to connect and share your gifts.  It is our goal to empower and inspire singers to embrace the next levels of excellence in ourselves and our industry. Our voices are like fingerprints, we touch, we hug hearts, we wipe away tears, we can turn pages. To ensure that each and every one of you has the highest quality experience, we have limited enrollment to 50 participants. I love my job,  join us if you do too."
 

Travel and Accommodations:

For guests who are traveling from outside of New England, air service is available to Boston Logan International Airport BOS and Manchester Regional Airport MHT.  If arriving into Logan, bus service to Concord, NH is provided by Concord Coach.  If you plan to arrive into Manchester’s airport, you may rent a car… there is beautiful scenery to be enjoyed!

Transportation during the Summit:  our Studio/Stage is located in the quaint village of Suncook, NH which is only 10 minutes from downtown Concord.  We encourage participants to create ride pools among themselves during the weekend, but we will also be providing rides if needed.  Please indicate your intentions when you register.

Summit Events

Friday night

7pm - 8pm Doors Open... Welcome to the Studio!

8:30pm-10:30pm Public Concert featuring Vinx (“Lion King” , Sting, Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, Cher, Darius Rucker, Cassandra Wilson….) Alonzo Bodden, (Winner of Last Comin Standing, regular guest on NPR's "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me" and a featured comedian for Smooth Jazz Cruises), and Dolette McDonald (featured background vocalist in the film Bring On The Night, touring and session vocalist with Sting, The Rolling Stones, Don Henley etc etc)

10:30pm - Midnight... Welcome Reception, Dreamsicle Studio/Stage, dessert buffet & drinks

 

Saturday

10am-12pm Critical Listening Session - as assigned, each participant spends 15min. recording while a group of producers give valuable input and tips.  Panelists:  Vinx, Steve Van Arden (Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Whitney Houston), Alain Mallet (Jonatha Brooke, Paul Simon, Madeleine Peyroux), Martin “Flynn” Crotty, Michael Hurwitz, Paul Venezia, Alan Venitosh, etc 

12- 1:45pm The Stage is NOT the Studio… the Art of Audience Engagement an interactive workshop with Alonzo Bodden, (See Above)


2pm-3pm  Building A Career From The Ground Up - Ralph Jaccodine discusses his strategy for guiding Ellis Paul's career, Jean Pierre Leduc discusses his international career development strategies with jazz and r&b/soul artists and Jackie Indrisano veteran talent buyer and current venue manager for The Red Room @ Cafe 939 in Boston discusses the view from her side of the room...


3:15-4pm It's YOUR Band... How Come I Can't Hear You? Industry veterans share insight, specifically for vocalists, into making the most of your sound check. Panelists include: Dolette McDonald, Vinx, Corey Glover (lead vocalist for Grammy Winning band Living Color)

4:15pm-6pm 
Stage Technique & Mic Testing - soundcheck, stage tips, mic technique & mic testing (Alan Venitosh - VP of design and marketing for Telefunken Elektroakustik, Adam Falcon, Steve Van Arden, Emily Musolino)


6-8pm free time/dinner (participants use this time as they wish to explore the area and local restaurants)


8:30-11pm Public Showcase Performances on Dreamsicle Studio/Stage with Kenny Wesley, Flynn, Emily Musolino, Adam Falcon (solo artist and touring credits with George Benson, Jonathan Butler, etc) Corey Glover (lead vocals for Grammy winning band "Living Color") and others TBA... dessert buffet & night cap

 

Sunday 

10am-12pm Critical Listening Session - as assigned, each participant spends 15 minutes recording, a group of producers give valuable input and tips 


12-12:45pm Rhythm for Singers - with Alain Mallet (pianist, producer for Jonatha Brooke and others), exercises for vocalists to vary your phrasing

1-1:30pm Who's Listening? The state of radio and other audiences today - with Matt Dydo (Binnie Media) and others
 

1:30-2:30pm Marketing/PR and The Hot Seat - Jennifer Smith Lambert moderator- leads a panel of industry professionals as they discuss the thing artists hate to do most... SELL THEMSELVES! In addition, the panelists will review & give constructive comments on marketing materials from one or two of the artists participating in the Summit (submit to jennifer@dreamsiclearts.com to be considered) Panelists will include Ralph Jaccodine (Berklee Professor, member of the Folk Alliance Board, Founder of Black Wolf Records and manager for Ellis Paul, Flynn, Martin Sexton, etc), Jackie Indrisano (manager and artistic director for Cafe 939 in Boston), Jean Pierre Leduc (owner of Lunched Management and Booking, International artist management and booking based in Montreal and New York) and others who review music marketing materials on a regular basis. 2:45-4:45pm The Artist Within a workshop exploring your unique creative process (Vinx)

5-6pm Artist Q&A/Performance/Clinic - ….. Corey Glover of “Living Color”


6-8pm free period/dinner (relax, refuel and explore)


8-10pm Public Showcase Performances on Dreamsicle Studio/Stage Kate Diaz, Amma Whatt, Virginia Rubino, (additional guest showcase performers TBA), dessert buffet & drinks



Monday

10am -12pm Critical Listening Session - as assigned, each participant spends 15 minutes recording, a group of producers give valuable input and tips
 

12pm - 1:30pm Vocal Health & The Voice on Tour with Dolette McDonald, Lisa Guyer (founder and lead vocals for "Mamma Kicks")

2 - 3pm ProTools for Singers - Refine your skills in producing vocal tracks from your laptop and sending them to a professional producer. Sponsored by Behringer X32
