DAY 1: (Sunday 28 Jan)

On arrival at Kokota International Airport in Accra, one of my Vinx Travel team will be there to meet you and will escort you to our upscale Accra hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you may have time for some exploring or you may prefer to relax by the pool if you've had a long journey, but either way we are here for you from the moment you arrive and will help you check in at the Alisa North Ridge Hotel. Enjoy your first Ghanaian meal at our Welcome night Dinner.

DAY 2: (Monday 29 Jan)

After your long journey, this morning is a chance to meet your fellow travellers over breakfast. Today we become acquainted with the city of Accra as we head off together on a bus tour of the city. On our tour we will see the famous (and newly re-opened) Kwame Nkrumah Presidential Library and Museum, with many bronze statues, fountains and peacocks wandering freely. We will pass through Independence Square where the “Eternal Flame of African Liberation” is still lit, and Independence Arch until we reach the Accra Arts Centre where we can enjoy local arts and musical performances. We return to the hotel for dinner.

Day 3: (Tuesday 30 Jan)

Today we set off to explore more of Ghana with a trip along the Cape Coast, stopping for a grills late lunch, followed by a trip to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Elmina Castle. With the help of an expert local guide, we will learn about colonial West Africa and the terrible history of the slave trade, specifically at Cape Coast Castle, which was built by the English and used to house up to 1500 people at a time until 1832. In the evening we will have dinner and musical entertainment at Kokodo, with an overnight stay in the best hotel on the Cape Coast; Pempansie Hotel with it's quiet and (thankfully) air-conditioned rooms.

Day 4: (Wednesday 31 Jan)

After breakfast at the Pempamsie Hotel we set off for Kakum National Park with our guide, where, wildlife includes forest elephants, colobus monkeys, buffalo, giant forest hog, pangolin and civet and 266 bird species. Whilst there we can brave the seven rope bridges that form the canopy walkway and enjoy a bird’s eye view as we walk through the forest 40 meters above the canopy floor. Once our legs have recovered we will take lunch, then set off towards Accra. On the journey to Accra we will stop at one of the beautiful, palm-fringed beaches and watch the waves crashing on the sand, before stepping back into the excitement of Accra. This evening we will take dinner and be entertained by Ghana’s own all female “Lipstick Queens” at +233 Jazz Club.

Day 5 (Thursday 1 Feb):

Let’s put on our sunscreen and immerse ourselves in nature with a half-day trip to Akosombo Dam and the Volta River where we can set sail on the only cruise ship in Ghana - the Dodi Princess - taking in spectacular views across the water. After the last few days of exploring and making wonderful new memories, and friends, lets take a free afternoon. You can explore Accra, spend the afternoon chilling by the pool, explore more famous sights or whatever you would prefer to do! I'll be in a hammock! Today’s dinner is not included.

Day 6 (Friday 2 Feb)

Today is a free day for your to relax. In the afternoon we have arranged for you to take a cooking class but you can also spend more time relaxing or exploring if you wish.

Performers will also be rehearsing today.

Day 7 (Saturday 3 Feb)

Today is Festival day for those of you who are performing at the Vinx International Serenade Festival. The Festival performances will take place this evening.

Let's eat a slow breakfast, then take the day to relax and reflect on this wonderful week of exploration and culture. Feel free to explore, chill at the beach or hang out around the pool as we prepare for The International Serenade Festival Ghana.

In the evening we will head to +233 Jazz Club for dinner and the full festival with Vinx and his all-star band ending the festival with a special performance.

Day 8 (Sunday 4 Feb)

After a week of exploring Ghana and it's vibrant culture, let's take it easy, relax by the pool, read a book, soak up some sunshine, recover from yesterdays festival performances and enjoy the final full day with our travel group, and your new friends, or however you'd like to spend the day. This is a free day for you to choose what to do. You'll find Vinx in a hammock somewhere!

Day 9 (Monday 5 Feb)

Today is departure day and so after breakfast, we will begin to say our goodbyes as you, our travelling companions, transfer from our hotel to Kokota International Airport for our flights home or on to our next destination. You may be lucky to have more time to pick up some final souvenirs before heading home. We hope you will leave happy to have spent time with Vinx, my friends and other connoisseurs of my music and to have completed one of your chicken bucket list trips.
